My eyelids feel heavy but I know I have to get up. I trained extra yesterday and I knew my body would feel it today, but I did it anyway. I train in hand to hand combat and sword fighting. I want to be strong but I'm really not, so I train hard and try to get stronger, but I've made lousy progress.
I take a bath then go to watch the sun creep into the sky. I feel at peace and centered. I turn my face towards the sun and enjoy its gentle warmth. The sun barely pierces the fierce cold of the ice kingdom but I have the patience to sit and wait for it to leave a slight warmth on my skin. Just as the I feel the warmth my messenger brings me a summons.
"Tea time. Don't disappoint. -Your Mother The Queen" is all it says. I know as my Mom and as the Queen, it is her job to make sure I marry and produce heirs for the kingdom. It has been a few months since she summoned me for 'tea time', I thought she would've stopped. I have to go and I know the Queen will be there instead of being present as my Mom. I wonder what kingdom she plucked a Prince away from for today, and why she would change her mind about Prince Nico Embersinge of the Wind Kingdom. I gather myself and go to my Mom with a smile spread on my face for show. As I enter the room I feel my dimples appear as I see it's not a random Prince today but it is my best friend Prince Matthew Roseblood of the Fire Kingdom.
"Ah hello Nakita! I missed you terribly and I had some business to attend to with you and your family" Matthew warmly greets me. He gets up bows to the Queen and then he turns to me and does the same. I bow back then he chuckles. "What are we doing? I missed you and I know you probably missed me too," he says and sweeps me into a warm embrace. It's been half a year since I've seen him in person.
He is always very warm it could be due to the magic that flows in his blood but no one ever tells me I feel cold to the touch. We have been best friends since we were born. Our kingdoms bordered each other and had fought for many generations before finally the Kings came together and realized all the fighting was for nothing and thus they ended years of bloodshed and pain. The alliance they formed was that the Kingdoms balance each others seasons allowing the Kingdoms to blossom and thrive together. Matthew and I would inherit the Kingdoms in a few years and we planned our coronations to happen together, but due to a minor age difference, his coronation would happen a year before mine.
"I want you both to decide on a seasonal cycle that can be inverted to fit both kingdoms. Try to finish before dinner Dears." the Queen said with a hint of Mom poking in. "See you both for Lunch?" She added as she exited the room.
"I'll be there Ma," I said just as the door slid closed behind her.
