Raven loved knitting, she enjoyed making sweaters, socks, hats and gloves. And Christmas sweaters were her favorite things to make. She could make them so funny that you would have to look forward to wearing them the next year. Something her mother made sure she enjoyed to do. She spent September building up her yarn supply, starting the gift making just after halloween. She was close to finishing up, saving Thorn and Qrow for last.
“Hey Rav? You almost done with the sweaters?” Lavender asked.
Lavender was one of her roommates, the two went to the same college. She was well aware of Ravens joy of knitting and all things costume making and this was her favorite time of year.
“Yeah, I just have two left then I’m done!” Raven declared.
“Sweaters? Why you making sweaters? Why not buy them?” Qrow asked.
Qrow was a demonic being, he was injured and found refuge in a stuff animal. He didn’t account for Raven to find him, fix up the torn toy and trap him inside the stuff cat. Now here he was, trapped and living with a bunch of anxiety prone college students.
“Because I want to. I enjoy making things, sweaters, socks, gloves, shawls, anything knitted and anything fun and festive.” Raven answered.
If Qrow could, he would have rolled his eyes. He didn’t understand the humans he was living with, he tried to but at times he was just clueless.
“Oh don’t roll your eyes at me, I find knitting relaxing!” Raven said as she went to get a few cookies from the stash they had.
“I just don’t get you humans, I just don’t.” He said.
Lavender smiled and picked Qrow up, taking him to the living room. “C’mon, you can help me study for my stat final.” She said.
Raven wished the two luck as she went back to her room. It had smelt like a fabric store with a hint of a vanilla candle burning. She smiled and grabbed a headband to keep her hair out of her face and finished up with a large male size sweater in the theme of his hogwarts house. He was a Slytherin, cunning and willing to do almost anything to reach his goal, after all he made a deal with a demon to finish his transition. She finished up the sleeve and moved it so she could take one last look at it.
“Yep, perfect for Thorn!” Raven smiled. She looked over at the three other sweaters, adding Thorn’s to the pile. “Mine, Lavender and Wiccan’s looks good and now that Thorn’s is done I have almost a complete set of cute and adorable sweaters to wear tomorrow!”
She picked up one of the stuff animals she had left over from a few months back and began to measure it. “I swear I feel like that black hair girl who likes to make costumes from that one magical girl anime, some days.” She said aloud as she worked on making a stuff animal size sweater. She digged around her stash of yarn and quickly knitted up one fit for a plush doll.
There was a knock on her door and Thorn came in. He knocked on the table to get her to look at him.
“What’s up man?” She asked.
“You almost done with the sweaters? We’re about to order take out.” He signed.
Thorn was mute, he could not talk. He used sign, or his ipad to talk to people.
“Yeah, go ahead and grab yours!” Raven said.
Thorn rolled his eyes. “You puffs are all the same! Always making sweaters for everyone!” He teased.
Raven laughed. “You gotta admit, I’m quit good at it!”
“Did Mrs Weasley teach you or something?”
“No, but my mom did. Knitting makes me feel close to her.” Raven picked up the picture of a black hair woman, swearing a knitted sweater while holding a little brown hair girl with giant glasses and another little girl dressed in boys clothes. “Somedays I miss her.”
“Yeah, your mother was so accepting of me when I first came out.” Thorn smiled.
He could see how sad his friend had gotten when she looked at the picture. He grabbed it and sat it down.
“You can either sulk or eat.” Thorn said.
Raven nodded and walked out of her room, leaving the sweaters on the bed.
Down in the living room, Lavender, Qrow and now Wiccan were busy studying for finals next week and finishing up last minute essays. Raven smiled and joined in, helping her friends out where they needed and helped pick out dinner. The roommates spent the whole night doing homework and eating asian food they chose to splurge on.
“So, what’s everyone plans for the winter break? Demons don’t stop attacking just because it’s christmas!” Qrow asked.
“We’re all staying in town. I’m taking a class during winter.” Lavender answered.
“I’m taking a mester off and finishing up some cosplays I want to work on.” Raven announced.
“Mom and dad kicked me out when I came out. Haven’t seen them since I was a kid.” Thorn signed.
“And my parents are currently in England, don’t know why and don’t really care.” Wiccan finished answering.
“Qrow, do demons celebrate Christmas?” Lavender asked.
“Something similar to it.” Qrow answered as he watched christmas movies about a red nose reindeer. “During this time I’m normally with my beloved Geralt, enjoying the night away.”
“Hope we find him.” Raven said as she finished with dinner. “Okay, I got one more sweater to work on then I’m done!”
“Oh sweet! Looking forward to this years ugly sweater!” Wiccan said.
Raven got up and put her plate in the kitchen before skipping off her her room. Qrow asked what was going on with Raven, she may have seemed happy but was upset. Thrown began to tell the demon what had happen but Qrow just looked at him, confused as to what the human was saying.
“You do know I don’t understand hand waving… Just tell me to give you a voice and I can do that.” Qrow stated.
Thorn got angry and hit him on the head. He was about ready to throw the demon out of the house but Wiccan stopped him.
“Thorn baby, calm down. He’s just a moron!” Wiccan said.
Thorn gave Wiccan a look, then explained how sick of his attitude towards him and his disability. He had no problem fixing Raven’s sight, Wiccan’s fibromyalgia and turning him into a man but his lack of speaking ability was always something that Qrow didn’t understand.
“Thorn why don’t you help me do up dishes.” Lavender suggested.
She grabbed her friend and moved him away from the living room.
“You gotta stop doing that, you know Thorn is happy with who he is.” Wiccan said.
“Sorry, now explain why Raven was sad and why she’s making sweaters?” Qrow asked.
“Raven’s mom use to be a fashion designer. Use to make all sorts of gifts for us! One of those things were hand knitted stuff like sweaters, socks, gloves, scarves, things like that. Raven just wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps.” Wiccan explained.
“And her dad?” Qrow asked.
“Her dad wasn’t so much into this, they don’t talk much. He’s trying to get her to do computer base jobs but this makes her happy. So they stopped talking after last christmas when she tried to give him a handmade sweater.” Wiccan said. “He wasn’t into Thorn being trans or gay, and her being ace aro. But hey here we are.”
Qrow nodded, he didn’t know much of the girl he picked to hunt demons, she kept quiet about her past and why she loved to make clothes, now he knew. He didn’t dare make fun of her for it again.

Morning came with the roar of five alarm clocks, one in each room plus the one in the kitchen. Each friend woke up to shut the alarms off and get ready for school. Raven went to each room and handed over the sweaters. Thorn smiled as he put his on, proud of the fact he was a slytherin dating a hufflepuff.
Wiccan just looked at her and asked why.
“You’re a puff, he’s a slyth, some of the cutest relationships are puff and slyths!” Raven declared.
Lavender looked at hers, a gryffindor sweater. “Really… How did you know my house?”
“Uh the flag on the wall.” Raven pointed behind the girl.
Lavender smiled and hugged Raven before going off to get dress. Raven smiled and handed one to Qrow. It was for the house, Gryffindor as well.
“Why did you make one for me?” He asked.
“Everyone needs an ugly house sweater! You look like a Gryffindor type!” She answered as she went to put on her own ravenclaw sweater.
Everyone stepped out of their rooms, each wearing a hogwarts themed sweater and ready to take pictures before class.
“Hope you’re making sweaters up there mom.” Raven thought as she packed her bags for school. “Yo Qrow, wanna tag along?”
“Oh boy yes!” Qrow cheered as he got up and ran to her bag.
Raven smiled, hoping for once they would have a quiet day at college.
