Elle stirred and opened his eyes groggily. He looked around the room he was in. The ceiling was a light cream with gold trim. As he looked down he could see paintings of various landscapes including one of dark night with purple flowers glowing in the moonlight and fireflies around them. Then he saw a dark figure sitting beside him, and as his eyes focused, he saw it was and old man with a long black beard dressed in violet.
"Where am I?"
"FLOOR 10," the old man answered closing his book, from the look of it a BIBLE.
"What happened?"
"We had to shut down the entire facility and do a complete reboot." the man explained. "You're in a recovery ward on the top floor. You've been out for the entire night."
"What time is it?"
"Nine AM." he answered.
Elle sat up and began to wipe the sleep from his eyes. "Who are you?"
"I'm Nine-Nine-Eight, head of all the recovery wards for the entire facility and group," he answered.
Elle looked at the book, "A Bible?"
"No," the man laughed. "We're Anti-Christ people remember? Actually, this is a book designed to look similar to the Christian's Bible in almost every aspect but that we have different stories. In these pages are stories about how the Bible has left things so vague that if science and magic were to join like we imagine we could unlock some of the greatest things of all time." Elle was silent. "At least, that's what I believe anyway.. But that's the jist of it."
Elle nodded. A door opened behind the old man and Vlalan came walking in, a flashlight tied to the top of his head. "Ah, he's woken up! Sleep good, kid?"
Elle frowned and nodded, "I guess. Mind explaining what happened? What do you intend to do with me?"
Vlalan crossed his arms after he stopped by Nine-Nine-Eight, "Fiesty little kid, ain't he?"
The old man chuckled, "Indeed."
Vlalan looked back to Elle, "I'm not sure what we'll do with you just yet. After you were given Memento the entire room filled with light and you overloaded our system making us shut down the entire facility. All night we've slowly been rebooting. There are still a few things down though which is why we have you on the top floor, not an easy place to get to should our security get breeched by a Melody member."
"Why would--"
Vlalan cut Elle off, "Because you're the missing link as they believe. Plus you're family and they don't want to see you get hurt or something like that." Vlalan turned to the old man, "Rupert's called a meeting."
The old man nodded and stood up, "Very well then." He handed Elle the book and left the room, Vlalan following.
"Hey what about me?!" Elle shouted getting ready to toss the book at Vlalan.
Vlalan turned to Elle standing at the door, "All you can do is wait. Don't worry, you're safe here."
"What's this meeting about?!"
"You'll find out later on," Vlalan answered and closed the door behind him.
Elle looked up as he noticed the lights flickering. "Guess not everything is sound yet.." He picked up the book and flipped it open and began to read, "Might as well. Got nothing better to do.."
