"Now that its settled, your training starts now. Hydra, you may enter." Her voice echoed throughout the dark chamber as the door parallel to the throne opened revealing an interesting being to say the least. They were a humanoid figure that seemed covered in scales of a multitude of colors while wearing a similarly style of tunic. The being appeared genderless but you couldn't deny the muscle that they clearly process. Their clam, silver, eyes gazes the scene as they entered the room. Their hair completing made of petals of some kind of flower, while even the blade by their side adores a different type of flower at the hilt. The strode towards the three with confidence in their step.
"You called for me, my ladyship," they kneeled to the floor on one knee eyes on the ground.
"Oh you being so courteous, well I hope that you learned your lesson from last time." A smile of false innocence followed by chuckle.
"I have madam, is there anything I do could for you that I could atone for my previous actions."
"Oh I have a few ideas, but let's discuss this more in the meeting room," leading the way to the side of the chamber and revealing a hidden door. Before entering the goddess turned around towards the two other figures, "Mr. Bortis and Mr. Gon, you shall remain here until we get back don't wonder around or well you know the answer to that Mr. Gon." With that they disappeared behind a closed door leaving the two to stand in stilled silence for a moment.
"So... how's your neck?"
"Really, you know how it feels; ish nothing. 'Sides, this may be yal'r only chance to inquire about that crazed creature or her ladyship, yet you ask bout a creature like me- yal'r really are an odd one."
"Hmm...that's true I can always ask more later, but first answer me this. If the pain was never there to begin with, then why did you panic?" he questioned sincerely with concern and curiosity.
"There are far worse things than dying and she knows that; just because we can not feel any pain physically, does not mean that there's not any other ways experience any type of pain. Emotions. Illusions. Even yal'r own memories. Best to be wary of her least her fondness for you will run dry." Gon's hooded eyes carried a pain that only tortured souls know while glancing towards the door the door, speaking in a low voice to be sure that the occupants could not hear him. "Now ask, before I change my mind and leave you with questions burning in the foolish mind of yal'r s; and trust me he wont answer any you may have." the goblin proclaimed with a smugness to him.
"Wait, that was a male!? How can you tell, I thought it may have been female... cause um I don't know but I didn't get a sense that they were umm you know."
"...Heh heh well yal'r not wrong bout that, he does have a certain feminine side to his crazy self." He all but laughed at his own inside joke.
"I have been wondering, why do you call him crazy he seems like the perfect loyal subject to me."
"Hes not as loyal nor perfect as he seems. You'll see what I mean, same goes with his *Heh* personality." The goblin stopped talking as the door began to open, falling silent with amusement still residing in his eyes on his rather blank face. The lady of death herself steps out first, an uncontainable burst of glee pouring out of her very being as she struggles to keep her composure, preventing any to enter or exit she began to speak;
"Mr. Bortis as of today, you will be instructed in the ways of this realm, general manners to formal, proper speech, combat for your occupation as my new servant, and everything you need to know about the universe. The one in charge of your education will be Hydrangea, or Hydra for short; you will address him as Kiron. Over time I'm sure that a bond will form and you will have- a name for them for each different lesson." It was not a statement, it was a command that let anyone who heard know not to question had they knew her for a long time.
"He, them,.. what but wasn't it just one person in there? Am I missing something here, because I feel like I am? Why do I have to be taught these things, wasn't I just going to do um... watching people die and lead them here?" the demon continued to babble as the two occupants in the room sighed knowing that it will be a long time for him to stop being such a fool.
"He truly is the fool as you described him to be, yet are you truly intent on having him here and being my pupil?"
"No way, she must be joking. Just look at him, if he wasn't already dead the training would kill him on the first day.
"He does rise a good point but we must do as we are told."
"What scared of the consequences, please we have handled way worse." The voices started to grow in volume from inside the room arguing their opinions about the matter; deciding what to do with him. They all sounded similar to each other with their own speech tick to go with it for example: one spoke softly, another arrogantly, and another as if irritated by the whole thing, and so forth.
"Now, now Hydra is that any way to treat someone when they just arrived and are quite unaware of our ways."
"Fauve, she heard us."
"Yes, now may you please present yourselves to Mr. Bortis as to get acquainted with before the lessons tomorrow begins. Any refusal will earn you punishment that will be worse than your last one, now come out there now." She threatened thoroughly annoyed by their antics.
Silently for fearing to further anger their mistress eight beings existed the room, all resembling the creature that first entered. Each figure had a different solid color and tunics to go with-except for one which appeared female-and had their own style that allowed for others to tell the apart but still staying within bounds with each other. They were lined up parallel to the door unarmed except for the leading one that had the sword that he had seen the being carry in with him.
"Please do try to hide your confusion as it does serve me amusement, yet too much will cause it to grow dull. These eight here were the being you saw enter earlier and as a whole they are known as Hydra. Hydra, in my opinion, died far too soon so I had made him a general after seeing that his powers were still intact. You see his kind has an amazing power to transform into a large serpentine beast-monstrous some would say- resembling a serpent with a body and if you manage to cut its head off," she giggled with amusement, "and this is the best part, two more takes its place. Only by striking its heart can they truly die, even you can tell that by the number of them that they had their heads chopped off only four times another amazing part of them. They are not the first to come nor will they be the last; however, the way they lived and died is what made me decide to keep them. Oh my, it seems that I have rambled on a while now. Oh well, time for all you to go to your rooms. Training will begin before dawn and end before sundown." Lady Death turned and started towards the doors that Hydra had first entered, leaving everyone left behind.
"Wait Moat Nona, didn't you say it starts today so then why are you saying that they will teach me tomorrow?" Murni thought that it was quiet odd how she seemed to change her mind not noticing how the others shook their heads.
"It does start today but they won't be needed for this part, all you need to do is to find your room and eat what is given to you. Also, Mr. Gon will be looking after now whenever you need something and Hydra please accompany me to my chambers after I give Mr. Bortis a gift." Her voice was soft almost weary as she held her hand out a small glowing orb appeared from thin air to rest in her palm. All of a sudden she started to sway until Hydra, as one being, steadied her by holding her side bringing her close to his. They talked to each other for a moment before Moat Nona called for Murni.
"Yes, milady?"
"Here take this, hopefully this will help you with what you need." She seemed weaker, visibly shaking as if a gust of winter air blew through her. Murni took the orb from her palm gently as if she would break from any sudden movements. Still confused but knew that now wasn't the time for any foolishness he stayed quiet as she smiled and let Hydra lead her out.
"Hey, Gon can you explained to me what just happened just now." The young demon was at a lost of the current events, but knew that even for here what just happen was not normal. The way she carried herself differed from when they first met compared to moments ago; he- a passionate being- was concerned for her even after just meeting her.
"Well first off, she made me be a stinken nanny for yal'r idiotic self. Second, Ive to 'elp said fool find hes room. And now I-"
"Gon no games, tell me now what is this orb and what is wrong with Ms. Death." Clutching the orb firmly, yet with tenderness all the same as he stared at the goblin steely daring him say anything else.
Ah there it ish, the spark that her mistress had spoken of. No wonder she wants him, theres much left inside that he hides under that cowardly mask of his. Well best to answer him or I will regret this if he ever does prove his worth.
Sigh "That orb, notice its soft texture well that is a soul and-before you interrupt it does not matter whose it was-she wants you to eat it. Once you do, you'll gain some knowledge, temporary power of another kind, improve yal'r own pathetic power, and something else but worry about it later. As for her ladyship, shes undeniably one of the most powerful gods compared to others; however, if she uses too much she can become very ill. Even you must know that as death herself she can not possibly die, rather she will be unable act until she simply stop existing."
"What!? You can't mean to say that all the things she has done before me caused her to become ill, but that must have been a simple task for her."
"Tell me youngling how do wonder that those dead such as yourself still wonder bout. It takes power and let me tell you there are hundreds of them walking around in this realm. Although yal'r right about the simple tricks that she did wouldn't be able to cause her pain to such extent, want to know what truly did her in to be that way? See that glowing soul, it takes a lot of energy to transport a specific soul, compress it into that size, and make sure it doesn't vanish before consumption. So want to make it up to her, then eat it and do not regret nor complain; all she did was for you." With that he turned walking towards the door not checking to see if the demon followed him.
Murni, shocked beyond belief, started to see Lady Death in a new light and began to believe that she isn't as horrible as he thought she was. Taking a deep breath, he swallowed the soul, the bitterness was overwhelming as everything seemed to grow larger in size.
"Gon! Why did everything get bigger, is it her power or is it me?" Looking around frantic, he noticed that even Gon seemed to grow to his height.
"Well yal'r not a demon anymore, but a half-breed rather," at this point the goblin started laughing at the once demon's expense.
"Can you stop laughing and just tell me what I am." He fumed as waited impatiently for the goblin to stop.
"Yal'r a half fairy and half human," he wheezed out trying to calm himself, "notice the wings on your back see if you can fly, fairy-boy."
"Can we just go to my room please, and I'm just assuming that this what you forgot when consuming a soul." His clothes much larger than before dragged behind him as he walked past the goblin into a well candle lit hall.
"Oh alright, follow me its this way."
They walked through a maze of hallways leading upstairs to where a doorway greets them. Gon opened the door only to reveal a platform on the outside. In the distance, a tower stood proudly with a balcony opened to the interior.
"There you go, thats yal'r room good luck trying to get in."
"This is what she meant my training begins tonight, trying out how to handle the effects of soul consumption. Very well then, tell me how to across to my room."
"Hey the soul finally started to kick in. Fairies are known to be intelligent and humans determined to reach their goal so her mistress actually thought bout which soul to give. You don't need me, sides you got wings figure it out." With that said, he stood leaning against the door waiting for Murni to hurry along.
"Okay here goes nothing," he forced his wings to flutter a with a deep breath took a step off the platform and fell.
"Well then, that was unexpected. This ish what happens when I put expectations on a fool like him, might as well go pick up his body." Disappointed he turned around ready to go downstairs when he the sound of heavy flapping of wings. The wings at first appeared fragile glass but now shimmered jewels of diamonds as he appeared struggling to stay afloat.
"How far is the tower from here and how much time do I have left until the soul's power goes away?" He breathed out, already tired but still determined to at least get to the room.
"Its three meters out there and you have six minutes left, see you there." He snapped his fingers and disappeared, only to reappear on the tower's balcony waving mockingly at him. With that knowledge and being mocked, he sped his over there only stumbling every now and then.
By the time he finally reached there, his time was up and almost fell if it wasn't for Gon grabbing him at the last second and lifting him onto the balcony. Tired and beyond exhausted, allowed Gon to drag him inside the dark room and onto a bed.
"Rest up, yal'r real training begins in a few hours." A smile that can called fondness appeared on his face for the briefest of moments until it vanished and he walked away.
"Yal'r gonna need it kid."
