Hours passed since Murni fell, only now does he stir but its not pleasant dreams that wake him; it nightmares from his past. The fear of loss and abandonment along with worthlessness are the only kind to haunt a soul that has already been abused and pushed around for so long, after all bruises heal but being severed from everything one knows leaves scars. With cold sweat running down along his sides, eyes wide and bloodshot, the demon sat up in fright. Shaking his head back and forth trying to clear his mind, looking around the cavern in such a feverish manner many would assume that he's gone mad; perhaps he has or soon will be.
Where am I? How did I get here? Did they finally make due on their promise and left me to die!? Where, where is-- oh right I remember now. I was on my way to the trade off point and something happened causing everything to go black. Next thing I knew I'm here stuck in this cavern with no clue on how to get out besides the opening that I can't reach. Having finally be fully awake he took notice that his body was bandaged up, including each digit on his hand, with care. Out of his perceptive view he spied a woven basket full of bread and fruit, reaching for it he checked to see if it was poisoned, out of the times that he nearly died from the tests his own kin puts him thorough he knows what to look for in such cases. Shifting through the basket, a peace of paper peeks through from the bottom. Curious he picked the paper up and read it; the first line read, "You idiot, how long are you going to stay down there." What kind of person would put this in a basket, treat me, and then has the nerve to call me an idiot instead of bringing me up with them. He would've stop reading it but disregard that thought to see what kind of person his 'savior' is. The rest of it read, "Look up, if you can't read the message I left for you then climb up to do so. Also stop being an idiot and use your powers to aid you in your climb up, you've pretty much scaled the whole thing already so it shouldn't be a problem for you."
The young demon was perplexed, intrigued, but over all embarrassed that he didn't think to use powers earlier. Looking up he saw that there were indeed something else illuminating the cave besides the opening. After eating the provided food-though the taste had something off about it-and seeing that he didn't die or any other side effects when ingesting poison, he gradually stood up. Analyzing the wall and remembering every details that he could from the day before and concentrated on a spot that seemed the most stable to handle his sudden impact once he teleported. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breathe and pictured his desired spot in his mind, focusing solely on it as magic coursed through him. Filling his body from within causing him to glow a faint hue as his hair flashed a faint light purple and disappeared, only to reappear a second later on the wall holding onto dear life.
"That was close, I almost didn't grab it in time. Though I do wish that I was a bit closer to the top rather than the middle. Oh well 'best not waste not a Fae's gift at dire times.' " Glancing upwards, he began his climb up; which proved more difficult with the bandages on his hand causing his grip to slip every now and then.
Surprisingly the more he used his powers, the more he became stronger aiding him in his quest to reach the opening and the message left behind by his 'savior'. The ledge was within sight now if only he could teleport there instantly; sadly he has only seen it but never has been there himself.
"One...more...step...er..climb? Forget it, I'm almost there now just have to step carefully and reach the edge. Ah...ha! I made it!" Finally after many trialing hours, Murni made it to the ledge crying tears of happiness. As he rolled over to laugh at his amazement (or silly triumph ) to make this far as he did, he spied, the words in glowing golden smoke, the message left for him by his 'savior'. This time as he read it, he was in disbelief at the message; not because it obviously is for him rather that the person knew his name.
"'Welcome to the Underworld Murni Bortis, I hope you find that the underworld is an exciting place once you wake and leave here.'" Murni let out a dry chuckle as realization dawned on him that the only way to be in the underworld is to be dead or a deal has been made with the ruler of the realm. Thinking back over the coarse of the past months, everyone part of the village has given him odd looks; ones that he couldn't decipher. Now however, he knew what those looks meant, they were looks of pity, they were smirks of knowing his fate, and they were glee with held as his life would soon be sealed away.
On the rare chances that a weak child is born into strong demon family, they would be given to another lord afar- any lord that would take which includes the load of the underworld- (or in worst cases they killed them as infants). In hopes to cast the disgraced ones out on their 15th birthday if they show no signs of physical change that would identified them as demons; they got rid of them by any means. Every demon child strong or weak would look like a human child- just as young cheetah cubs would blend in with the tall grass- to protect them from humans that hunt demons. It is the law amongst demons that no child under the age of 10 should be harmed, for that is when their demon signature becomes stronger and anyone can tell what they truly are. Being a very weak and low level demon despite his heritage Murni's signature was extremely low, causing him to be attacked due to being mistaken as human countless times at night when he went on assignments. Fortunately, the training from his family training prevented him from succumbing so easily by a lesser demon and disgracing the family name further; sometimes going so far as to almost breaking his body in two at times. Yet Murni still had a week left for his birthday, so why did they give him away so soon before the transformation.
"Why! Why did they sell me!? I know that once my birthday is here I would be strong and show them that I do belong there with them! I know I can't be dead, I look fine so they must have given me away. Even if they were to give me away, why to The Lord of the Underworld, they say he tortures his servants to death and then eats their souls for his own hunger. Do they detest me that much to do such a thing to me even though I'm second eldest to be heir of the clan!?!" Murni started to talk in a hysterical voice moving slowly away from the cave's opening to track down a path ignoring the warmth of the flames along the walls or the echoes of moaning spirits in internal suffrage for all of eternally. Despair washing upon him drowning him from within as the truth finally came clear. He may be part of a strong heritage and the son of the clan leader second in line, but that means nothing if you're born a low-level demon, especially since no one's evens acknowledges your birth title; not even yourself at times. I really don't matter to them, do I. I mean after all they did get rid of me before they could even see what I'm capable of once my power is finally unleashed. The least that they could've done was at least let be awake during the transaction, so I may goodbye to my little sister; the only one that was kind to me. Lost in thoughts the sold demon didn't notice a rather large stone in the path and tumbled over it causing him to roll down the beaten path all the way to the bottom. Once there he spied a rather short green/gray figure with long ears and small beady eyes giving him an unimpressed look. The creature wore a maroon vest and tan drawstring trousers holding a carrier bag.
"So you much be the newcomer, you sure do not look any special to me." the strange creature huffed. Getting the idea that he must respond to the seemingly male creature Murni spoke,
"Oh I'm sorry master, this won't happen again I swear! Please don't torture me and eat my soul! I'll be good I swear!" Believing that this was the Lord of the Underworld that his kin sold him to being that it was very grotesque, he panicked. The creature had a very blanched look upon it face before amusement graced his wrinkled skin, before it straight on laughed at the poor confused demon.
"Ha! Ha! Whoo-ee! May Mary strike me down for this is the funniest shh---scene that Ive ever did see and hear! No boy, Im no master just a mere servant here to fetch the newcomer who came from the that there cave." The creature bellowed bent over knee trying to remain his composure only to fail miserably. Murni in his state all he could was look down in embarrassment for making a bigger a fool out of himself than before. Gathering his courage he began to speak only loud enough above a whisper.
"If you are not my master then why are you here and what sort of creature are you? Ive never seen your type before back home." Murni questioned, trying to think of what the creature before him could be.
"Yal'r not so much a thinker are you, quiet daft it seems to me. I said earlier that Im just a servant from the master here to fetch you." the irritated creature huffed in annoyance at having to repeat themselves. "If you must know, Im a goblin, and yal'r best learn to speak my tongue. Speaking this way is difficult what with putting two words together just to speak." the now identified goblin started to walk away expecting the demon to follow. Stumbling to follow goblin and keep up Murni still had some questions on his mind and decided he might as well speak them now; who knew when he would have another chance.
"I thought goblins traveled in packs? Also is it true that your kind loves gold? What's you're name? Hey do you know why I'm here or why my family gave me away? What's your name? So why are you here? Did you die or where you sold? Speaking of, was I sold? Do you know cause I was wondering and sense you seem to know many things I thought I'll ask. So if you did die can you tell me how you came to serve the Underworld Lord?," he just kept shooting questions left and right before the Goblin could answer. This just caused the goblin to become more irritated by the second, before he finally snapped. Turning around he shouted,
"It's none of yal'r damn business you annoying twad, and listen up 'cause Im gonna say something important. Yal'r dead, you hear me! Dead!" with that said he quicken his pace towards an unknown location. Murni can only assume that it's the direction of where his soon to be master is, but he can't help but feel dejected that the Goblin would say such a thing and decided to remain quiet the rest of the way there. That is until realization dawned on him.
"Oh ok I'll be quiet now... Wait I'm what! I'm Dead!"
