After running and asking around about the train station, I found out it was close to my home. If it wasn't for that miss now I wouldn't be here.
"Hey, Leo!" - There I saw him. With his laptop, sitting in a bench. He glanced at me, then closed his laptop.
"Hi. Do you know a quiet place to talk?"
I didn't even remember where was the train station...
"Nope. I guess you too."
"That's right."
But then he had an idea.
"Welcome." - A man in his fourties greeted us.
"Is there someone in the reading room?" - Leo asks.
"Not a single soul."
"I see."
We took a book and went upstairs, then had a seat in one of the tables. There was really a good view of the city there, also because this library was in the main street. We didn't even pretend to read the book.
"Oh!" - I said. I finally remembered Leo's surprise. How could I ever forget this conversation? And most importantly, how could I ever forget the anniversary?
"Nevermind...what was the surprise about?"
After a couple of seconds of pure silence, he started to talk.
"Uhm...you see...I don't really know how I can tell you this without confusing you a bit, so I'll explain again to you if you don't understand."
"The fact is...I have an uncle...or...well, I had an uncle. He passed away a week ago or so. Even if I know you since elementary school, I guess you haven't ever heard of him. He was rich...he made a fortune a long time ago. And...he gave that fortune to me. After some paperworks and some checks...his fortune is now mine. But that's not the point."
In fact it wasn't. The point is that he loved watching lots of TV as a little kid. He couldn't play or study togheter with his friends because of an illness, so he had to stay at home most of the time.
He loved watching TV, but most importantly, he loved all the people who worked behind the scenes to bring entertainment to millions of people. That's an amazing feat, if you think about it.
He wanted to be like them. He wanted to work with them.
But that's all in the past. Now, at least here, people don't normally watch TV. Just a handful (me included) do. People began streaming, and TV shows had to do it too.
People don't care about TV now. They don't have time to sit through a slog of adverts just to watch a 20 mins episode. They don't even have time to watch TV at all. People prefer to watch whenever they want, and wherever they want. They don't want to be constrained to a single channel or a schedule. But being constrained is what TV is about. The joy of getting home in time to watch your favourite series while eating pizza.
He wanted to let TV shine once again. And even if I didn't accept straight away, I actually did in the end, and I don't regret it even a single bit.
We became pretty famous. One of the most famous broadcasters in Fanro.
And I want to do it once again. For the last time.
"So...uhm...would you like to join me? I know this is strange and everything, but..."
"I'll do it."
"What?"
"I said I'll do it."
By listening to him, I began to remember everything we did togheter for his dream. Every success and every defeat.
August 2nd 2017, the day we started to make his dream a reality. The day everything started to end. And to begin once again.
