It was a day like any other.
Riing.Riing.
Actually, it was the middle of the night.
"Mom?Why's she calling me?" - I thought.
"H-honey?"
"Yes, mom?"
"Thank god you're alive..." - It seemed like she was crying.
"Don't worry sweetie, good night..."
"Mom? What happened?"
"I heard people saying you were dead..."
"You...what?"
As I was still confused, I didn't pay too much attention and went back to sleep after a while. The next day my mother and I discovered that I was dead.
Well, not me: another "Vera".
Riing.Riing.
"What's up, Martha?"
"Vera...are you ok?"
"Yes, I am ok, and...yes, I know some people thought I was dead."
"Then, whose that car on TV? They say you died in a car crash!"
"What?"
"Check the news, right now."
I got up from the bed, and grabbed the remote as fast as I could.
I turned on the tv and raised the volume a bit.
"Rising actress Vera died in a car crash this morning in the city centre, we'll let y..."
While the newscaster was talking, a couple of images and videos showed up on TV.
"That's my car."
"Yeah, it sure is."
"Martha, just give me a second."
I put on whatever I could find near my bed and took the garage's keys with me.
As I inserted the key in the keyhole, I was praying my car was there. I was praying it was all a misunderstanding.
But there was nothing inside.
..what do I have to do now?
"Vera, are you there?"
"...Yes I am. The car is not, though."
"Whaat?"
"Well, I'm going inside right now. We'll meet up as soon as possible. I think I need a hand."
"Hmm...sure. I'm kinda busy now, so let's meet up in front of the train station around 9. See you there."
"Later."
