Memories rushed through my eyes.
Friends and allies.
Enemies and common people.
Events and disasters.
I opened them. I heard the alarm on my phone.
I turned sideways to watch the scenery outside the window. The sun was rising like always. I heard the birds from the nest on the tree next to my home.
I finally turned off the alarm, it's seven o' clock. It was the 8th of August. Year 2017.
"I made it back."
"Well, I'm starving." - I muttered.
As soon as I opened my bedroom's door and got down the stairs, I said what I would normally say in a day like this:
"Hey, AlDon. Do I have any event today?"
But he didn't answer.
"I see." - I guess I won't buy him till next year, until people start noticing C!S and my paycheck will rise.
I had to check my calendar by myself while making breakfast. Actually, I didn't have to check it, because there was one big sticky note on the fridge: "7:30, train station".
I didn't even remember ever going outside that day. It is actually kind of easy to forget things if you regularly time travel, or at least, that was what that girl told me. I also wrote a notebook so that I don't forget them, but I guess it never worked. While I was lost in thought, the phone rang: my friend Leo was calling.
"Good morning Raf!" - He said as cheerfully as ever.
"Good morning to you."
"I was afraid you were still sleeping. I'm glad you're not."
"How much until you get here? I heard there's some traffic because of a car crash."
"You didn't forget, did you?" - He added before I could even think of what to say.
I guessed he was talking about the sticky note.
"No I didn't, I was actually busy trying to find the car's key. I'll be there as soon as possible."
"The key to what? Isn't your birthday in september?"
"Oh, well…" - I forgot I was 15 at the time, and, of course, didn't have a car yet.
"...I meant the home's key."
"While we are at it… what are we doing today? I don't remember you telling me."
"Yep, I didn't. It's a surprise. A huge one."
"I see. Well, later."
"Later!"
So it's a surprise. Good for him that I don't remember a thing at all.
I turned on the TV while preparing breakfast. As I was preparing my morning coffee I changed channels - "I might remember something important if I watch the news." - that's what I thought. And I was partially right...I remembered something.
Every channel was talking about an accident, so I raised the volume. The coffee was almost ready, but as soon as I heard her name I raised my head, eyes glued to the screen. The coffee didn't matter anymore.
"Rising actress Vera died in a car crash this morning in the city centre, we'll let you know more as we get more info. Please stay tuned."
I remembered that things never went like this.
