Meanwhile back in the human world, the mirror began to glow as Saul was hurled out of the mirror and crash-landed into the bathtub while Sara landed on her feet performing a perfect landing.
“Of course, you made the perfect landing.” Saul said while being stuck in the bathtub.
Sara rolled her eyes and helps Saul up. She dusts him off as they both exit the bathroom. They made their way downstairs and hear someone in the kitchen. Sara saw a woman cooking something on the stove.
“Hey, mom. “ Saul calls her out.
“Hey honey, is this the friend you were talking about?” Saul’s mother asks.
“Yup this is her.” Saul answered.
“Well don’t just stand there, introduce me to her!” Saul’s mother ordered. Sara comes over as she was told and introduces herself to Saul’s mother.
“Hello, I’m Sara. It’s nice to meet you finally.” Sara said.
“It’s nice to meet another friend of my son's friends from school. So how are you liking your room?” Saul’s mother.
“It’s pretty good.” Sara responded.
“I’m going out to show her the neighborhood. That okay with you ma?” Saul said.
“Sure thing honey. Just be back before breakfast.“ Mom answered.
“Oh, what are we having?” Sara asks.
“Well since you and other friends are here, I’m going to be making a big breakfast. Some bacon and eggs, pancakes, and some sausages.” Saul turns towards Sara and sees that she was drooling from all the food options.
She started waving her arms towards the cooking but then Saul gave her a soft slap into reality. Saul then dragged Sara outside as she was sad as she was reaching out for the food on the stove. Walking towards the end of the block of the neighborhood.
“Aaawww I wanted to stay for breakfast.” Sara said while wiping away her drool.
“It wasn’t ready yet. Beside this walk could be good for us.” Saul said.
“Boo!~ Exercising sucks.” Sara echoed her voice at Saul’s ear.
Sara then took off her leather jacket and wraps it around her waist. She was curious at Saul for a moment. A few moments ago, he was scared to death and now he’s acting as nothing happened. Yet she can tell he’s mostly hiding it.
“By the way Sara. If you’re a demon, why were you here in the human world?” Saul asks.
“Oh, it’s a bit of a long story. But hey, we got time to kill.” Sara said expressing herself.
Sara went on to explain that she originally came to this world was because she was hunting down a wanted criminal from the demon realm and he ended up in the human world of all places. However, she also went on that demons can’t survive in the human world for very long, and neither can humans live long enough in the demon realm and they're lucky enough to find Saul since they were almost out of time in the human world. She then explains that the only way for demons to survive in the human world with no problems is to form a contract with a human and vice versa with a human in the demon realm. In other words, the “scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” motive comes into play. And since Saul made a contract with Sara, he can now survive the demon realm’s atmosphere and the same with Sara can survive the human’s world atmosphere. But what keeps coming back in his mind was the pain he felt when he got the contract mark and felt like dying for a split moment. Was his decision of joining the right decision? But at the moment, he can’t think of that right now. He can worry about it at another time. There’re so many questions he needs to asks Sara.
“So, Sara. If demons can cross here with no problem, can a human cross over to your world?” he asks while they continue their walk.
“Not really. The portal requires an amount of magic to open and go through. For us demons, we can do it with ease but a human cannot without assistance from us demons from the other side. And if they try too, they’d be dead. You’re lucky that the portal didn’t tear you to shreds when you crossed it.” Sara said.
“Well crossing it isn’t what I would describe it since it pulled me in. Never want to go through that again.” Saul said as he shrivels.
“Well, you have to if you want to travel back and forth between our worlds.” Sara said.
“Say what now?” Saul said with disbelief. The thought of going back and forth between the world through the portal of the mirror gave him the hibbie jibbies.
Before he has the chance to think about that more Sara snapped him out of it. The stress that he has to live up to their expectations weight heavily on him. Sara was a bit of concern about him. But then she grinned with an idea to get him back from reality. She leans in close to his neck and takes a little nibble on his neck. To which then Saul leaps out in surprises and falls. His face was blazing hot red with embarrassment.
“What the hell was that for?” Saul shouted. Sara said nothing but then she started laughing that he got embarrassed over a little nibble bite on the neck.
“Are that easily embarrassed about that?” She said as she continues to laugh.
“Why the nibble on the neck anyway?” Saul said while he is still blushing.
“Just to tease you! Who would have thought you’re still such a blushie boy!” she said while still laughing.
Saul’s face then turned madly angry red then started chasing Sara throughout the suburbia neighborhood. The chase went on for about 10 minutes until they ended the chase back to Saul’s home. Saul was exhausted from the running while Sara didn’t break a sweat at all. Saul was a bit jealous and even mad about it. Sara didn’t mind and giggles a bit and makes her way indoors. She stops for a moment when she smelled a rich aroma in the air. She dashes to the kitchen and sees the huge amount of breakfast feast left on the table. She wanted to devour everything on-site until Saul’s mother stopped her.
“Did you wash your hands young lady?” she asks.
Sara was ignoring her question until she got slapped in the face with a spatula to get her attention. She then grumbles to herself and goes to the bathroom to wash her hands. Frey then comes downstairs and introduces himself to Saul’s mother. However, Saul was a bit uncomfortable that Frey was there considering he almost got killed by him. But he hides it to himself and eats his breakfast. Sara immediately came back from the bathroom all hyper and chows down on her breakfast. Saul puts his plate away to the sink. However, Frey and Sara continued to eat breakfast as they were having seconds.
Saul went to his room and went to thinking about his current situation. His room was a small room on the first floor. Roomy enough to have a bed at the end of the room, a desk next to it with a laptop, and a chair and a closet wall. He walks over to his bed and stared at the ceiling for hours and losing himself to his thoughts. Mid-noon rolled around, and Saul still trapped within his thoughts. He was falling asleep until he heard a knock on the door. He rose from his bed and sees it was Frey knocking on his open door.
“Hey, kiddo. You alright.” He asks.
“Yeah. Just…. I’m just a little tired that’s all.” He replies to him as he turns from Frey.
“At this hour? Figured you would be outside again with Sara.” Frey said as he sat down on Saul’s chair. He knew Saul had his mind on something else.
“It was because I shot you isn’t it?” he asked.
Saul immediately bolted up and was surprised that Frey knew. But at the same time, he should have expected this by now.
“If it’s about that then, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to shoot you like that.” Frey apologizes as he reaches out to Saul’s hand. Saul hesitated at first but lets Frey hold his hand.
“It’s just that. Knowing that you guys are demons, I joined your group out of fear just to live. And now I have to live up to your guy's expectation as a member. That’s a lot of pressure to hold up to for me.” Saul said as he holds Frey’s hand.
“But even if I chose the other options, what then? I would have died anyway as your next dinner or as your prisoner. I was boned when Sara gave me my choice.” He exclaims as he lays back in bed.
Frey understood where he was coming from. Frey thought of an idea that might ease his mind a little.
“Come on, let’s go.” Frey said as he gets up and slaps Saul’s leg.
“Where we going?” Saul asks.
“We’re not just a mercenary guild. We carry out other assignments as well. That will be easier to get a hold of. So, come on.” Frey said as he tosses Saul a jacket.
Saul gets backs up and puts on his shoes. He sees the jacket as it was bare black with its guild logo on the right side of the jacket. He puts it on and follows Frey to the bathroom mirror. Sara was already waiting as well.
“What took you so long?!” Sara yells.
“Sorry. I thought we’d bring him along for the ride.” Frey said he points towards Saul. Sara was filled with worrisome.
“You sure about this?” Sara asked.
“It’s just a meet up with your cousin in town. So, this is an easy mission for him.” Frey suggested.
Sara still worries about it but then she sighed and nodded.
“Okay fine. But be sure he’s by your side. And Saul, you stay by our side at all times. Do not wander off in any circumstances do you understand?” Sara asks in a demanding voice.
Saul swallows and nods and agrees.
“Understood. Ma’am.” Saul said with pride.
“Please don’t call me like that.” Sara said.
She then drew a magic circle into the mirror as it begins to glow. Sara then jumps through the mirror head first then Frey as well. Saul was nervous but then jumped the mirror and follows them back into the demon realm.
