After gazing upon the forest for a little bit, Saul gets back up after catching his breath. He dusts himself off and goes exploring for a bit. As he walks, he keeps debating whether or not he should return to Sara’s house, but her father would still there and his fear was creeping up on him about the possibility of what might happen if he goes back. He figured if he could stay for a bit, maybe Hashiro will come down. So, he decided to explore more. He heads further down the woodlands and sees more of rose petals falling from the tree. Some have touched him on the cheeks and on his arm but he quickly rubs it off of him. Who knows what else it could hold. Poison? Toxic bacteria? He rather not knows. Up ahead, he sees a small wooden cabin nearly a lake. He looks around and sees no one’s home.
“Hello? Anyone Home?” he shouted.
He knocks on the door open but it was locked. With no luck, he walks away and continues to walk deeper into the woods. But the deeper he goes the dark the woodlands get.
“Yeah, maybe I should head back. Huh?” He turns back but the path he was on disappeared.
He then runs back to what he believes was where came but then he fell from a hill slope and landed on a thorny bush. “Gah! Ow! What the hell?! He yelled.
He gets out of the bush as a vine of thorn was attached to his arm. He tries to remove it but the thorns on the vines were digging into his skin. He then forces it off his arm as he got thin cut through from his upper arm to his lower.
“Ow! Okay, now I don’t like this place.” He yelled.
He continues to backtracks where he believes is the way back to the mansion. But the cut was deep enough for him to drip down some blood. While Saul makes his way back to the mansion the smell of his blood was attracting predators hiding in the woods. Saul then started jogging more down his direction while he covers his cut. Suddenly he sees the cabin across the lake. He rushes to the shore of the lake and quickly dumps his arm into the water. He then washes off the blood from his arm. The water felt warm and it appeared red like his blood but as soon as his arm was in the water it became darker. He then pulls out his arm from the water and now his whole arm smelled like his blood. Suddenly he heard some rustling in the bushes. He felt like he was being watched all over the place. Bubbles started rising up from the lake’s surfaces. Eyeballs started piercing through the water and looked at Saul. Saul backed up as the eyes came closer towards him along the shore. Then, he heard growling in the bushes as giant wolves came out of the bushes, snarling and baring their teeth.
“I’m out!” he yelled. Saul immediately got up and starts heading his way back towards the mansion but the wolves cut him off his path and began surrounding him.
The smell of the blood got them more riled up than before. One of the wolves then jumped him from behind. The wolf then pounds its paws on Saul and tries to get a bite on Saul’s face but he grabs the jaws of the wolf and tries to get the wolf off of him but the wolf itself will not let up and bites on Saul’s hand. He then screams on the top of his lung as the teeth were cutting deep into his arm to the point it was grinding against the bone. Using his other arm, he punches the wolf in its eye until it gave him enough time to get the wolf off of him and run. Some of the wolves try to pin him down again but missed and he continues to run but one of the wolves’ tackles from his right side and pins him down again. Ready to face the end, Saul shuts his eyes as the wolf about to devour his head until a sword was stabbed behind the wolves’ head as the blade was inches away from Saul’s nose. Confuse, Saul was wondering why he wasn’t dead by now. He slowly opens his eyes and sees the blade going through the wolf and was inches away from him. He looked and sees blood splatter all over his face with the blood of the wolf. Standing behind the slain wolf was a tall black figure. He recognized the figure as it was Frey, who stabbed the wolf with a katana.
“Frey? Is that you?” he asked.
“No, it’s me the tooth fairy.” He said sarcastically.
“… Really?”
Frey responded by grabbing his sword’s sheath and smacks Saul with it for asking such a dumb question.
“Ow! What was that for? He yelled.
“Stay down. I’ll take care of these dogs.” He demanded.
Frey pulls out the sword from the wolf he was slain and runs towards the other wolves. The wolves were angered and snarled that one of their own was killed. A few of the wolves right to attack him in different directions how Frey proved that their efforts were futile for he sliced each one of the wolves that came at him into pieces. Horrified by the actions that are happening right before him, Saul didn’t know how to understand the situation. Frey was killing every wolf like they were mincemeat and he wasn’t even fazed by killing them all. After killing them all, he swings the blade to wipe off the blood of his blade. He then approaches Saul while covering in blood. Still feeling the fear from what he witnessed he back up to a corner. Frey reaches out his hand and offers Saul to get up. Confused, he slowly reaches out and grabs Frey’s hand but then Frey grabs Saul’s arm and pulls him up.
“We can’t stay here for long. Come on let’s go!” Frey Yelled.
Saul and Frey ran for it and made their way back to the mansion but, as soon as they left, the blood of the wolves began to react. A head began to form out of the pool of the blood and the blood hardens itself. The hardened blood falls apart as a wolf comes out from the blood newly reform as if nothing happened. Other wolves began to emerge from the other pools of blood. The leader of the pack sniffs around smells the blood drips of Saul’s blood and was eager to hunt down Saul again. Meanwhile, as Saul and Frey were running back to the mansion, Frey noticed blood dripping from Saul's blood.
“How are you holding up?” He asked Saul.
“I’ll be fine. Let’s just keep moving.”
Frey could clearly see that he is hiding the pain he is in but knew the longer it is exposed it will probably be disinfected. He then orders Saul to take a break for a moment so he could take a closer look at the bite mark.
“Hhmm, just barely reached the bones. This is gonna hurt, a lot.” He said. Frey then pulled off his gloves and rolled up his sleeves. He then drew one of his arms towards Saul’s face.
“Bite my hand. And whatever you do, do not let go and scream. They will find us again if you do.” Frey ordered.
Saul was ever more confused but did what he was told. He gently bites down on Frey’s left hand. Frey’s right arm began to superheat as it made a bright orange glow. He immediately puts his hand on the bite mark as it burns on Saul’s skin. Saul tries to pull away but Frey didn’t him as he bites down hard on Frey’s hand to the point he began to draw blood. He silently tries to scream but he resists it as much as he could but the burn was too intense for him to handle. Frey then pulls away as he lets the burn mark to cool down. Saul then slowly pulls his mouth away from Frey’s hand as he tears up from the intensity of the burn. But he then looks at the burn wounds as it began to disappear along with the bite mark and cut.
“What the hell? What did you do?” he asked.
“I healed you. Not much but it'll do. Now get up. We still got a bit of a way to go.” Frey said. Suddenly he heard the pack of wolves approaching quickly.
“Shit! Here take this!” Frey then reaches for his belt and gives Saul a gun. In shock, he was scared of what he would have to do next with the gun.
“Shoot whatever comes at you, use the ejector rod to reload. I will give you more ammo if you run out. Got it?” he asked quickly.
Dumbfounded, Saul barely understood what he said but nodded and agreed. The gun itself looked like a bulky yet robust revolver pistol. Yet it was formed like it was a flintlock pistol as well. Not to mention the pistol was heavy. But not the less, Saul holds the pistol firmly as he ready. The wolves came rushing and Saul began shooting at the wolves while Frey came in close quarters and slices up other wolves that came at him or at Saul. Saul shoots what he can at the wolves while Frey finishes them off. The wolves just keep coming and coming as they began to outnumber them.
“THERE’S TOO MANY OF THEM!” Saul yelled.
“JUST HOLD ON A LITTLE LONGER!” Frey responded.
Saul continued to shoot the wolves. As soon as he was out of bullets, Frey tossed him a new set of bullet clip. Saul then reloads the gun and shoots more until the leaves of the trees came out of the trees and came raining down to the ground as it shreds every surrounding wolf and tears them to pieces. Lightning shot from out of nowhere as the wolves caught by it were burnt to a crisp. Fires balls were launched in every corner of the tree as it was scaring the wolves. Arrows also rained down from The wind started kicking up as it blew every chunk of bits away then the ground began to shook as a piece of the landscape crack and shift as it launched Saul into the air. Just he thought he was dead again, someone managed to catch him in midair.
“You alright short stack?” a familiar voice was heard as Saul looked up.
It was Miyoko carrying him in her arms. Shockingly, he sees her that she has horns on her head with giant bat-like wings and a black pointy tail.
“Miyoko, what are you?” Saul asked.
“Hold on tightly.” She said. She then starts to fly back towards the manor as a huge explosion blew up back in the area. Saul was holding on to Miyoko tightly until he felt suspenseful pressure felt on his body. His arms and legs started to go numb and his vision began to blur.
“What’s happening…to-“ he said while he tries to stay awake.
As they reached over the mansion grounds Miyoko drops Saul as he falls but Saul didn’t scream. The pressure he felt was exhausting him even more, he wanted to scream but he couldn’t. Just before he hit the ground, a gentle breeze was lifting up his body. He looks over to his right shoulder and sees Sara’s other sister casting wind magic to save Saul at the last minute. Suddenly, he felt his energy came back rushing to his body and his body is dropped again. He slowly gets back but then he sees an arrow pinned his shirt to the ground. More arrows shot from above and pinned him down as the other people from the sky started appearing and surrounded him. They all pulled out their weapons point-blank at his face as they were ready to slice him to bits. Scared, that he was going to be killed until a voice spoke up.
“That’s enough guys.” Another familiar voice was heard in the distance.
“Sara? Are you sure? He has seen us.” Frey said.
“Sara?” Saul wondered. Sara comes out of the shadows as she was wearing a long black coat with a large bow and quiver. She looked very serious now as the others put their weapons away as Sara approaches Saul.
“Sara, what are you?” he asked intensively. She knees down and grabs his chin. She grins as she drew closer towards his ears.
“We are The Dark Children of The Night.”
