Charlotte was working in the backroom when Victoria came rushing in. She held a letter in her hand and was out of breath. Charlotte looked up from her project and sighed.
"What's that?" she asked, tired of receiving letters in such a manner. Victoria smiled.
"It's a letter from the town of Strathmore itself, from someone named Tapas. It's the strangest thing I've ever read. It was addressed to Madame Dragyn's Potion Co."
"Fantastic. Will you read it aloud? My hands are covered in crushed unicorn horn," Charlotte asked, looking at her apprentice expectantly. Victoria pulled out the paper and cleared her throat.
"'Inksgiving is the newest holiday that will tickle your fancy. It's day of supporting and helping as you can give ink to your favorite people to show that you care. It only happens once, this year on November 20th and 21st. Give your neighbors all the ink you want. You don't have to buy the ink, though. You can watch free ads in the ink shop, money free!'" Victoria announced, as if she was trying to sell a magical cure. Charlotte laughed.
"Ink? Fascinating," Charlotte smiled.
"Oh, but that's not all! 'Supporters can also get back some of their ink by the end of the holiday! If supporters give 5 million ink to people, then they will receive 5% back, 10 million will get 15%, and if we reach 15 million ink given, 25% of the ink will be returned. The supporters will get it 30 days after Inksgiving has finished, and you can watch the progress as well!'" Victoria informed as she paused. Her face fell, looking confused.
"What is it?" Charlotte asked, sitting up.
"It's just this next part is oddly specific," Victoria answered before clearing her throat again. "'Certain supporters of this will receive prizes depending on how much ink is spent. The top three supporters will be given a sweet story of a dinner date between any two characters of your choosing from Madame Dragyn's Potion Co.'"
"That's a strange thing to put in there," Charlotte agreed.
"It keeps going. 'If supporters give 500+ ink on November 20th or 21st, they will receive a story telling the history of Strathmore and its lore. If supporters give 1000+ ink, they will receive a special story of how Lynn and Tyler met and fell in love. If supporters give 1500+ ink, they will receive the story about how Charlotte met Victoria. If supporters give 2000+ ink, they will receive a story about the Blackwoods performing the seance and what led to their deaths. If supporters give 3000+ ink, they can ask for any story involving the Madame Dragyn characters'," Victoria continued, her face scrunched in bewilderment. "What is this?"
"I have no idea, and I'm concerned about those so called stories. What are they supposed to do?" Charlotte wondered. Victoria shrugged.
"I think they're trying to give incentive to give ink away. Although, the wording is weird and I don't know why anyone would give ink for those prizes. They're awfully specific," Charlotte murmured before sighing. "Well, I guess there's a new holiday. That should be exciting at least."
"I wonder what kind of stories people will ask for," Victoria laughed before returning the letter to the envelope. "I'll let you get back to work then."
"Sounds good. Keep me updated on that prize stuff. I want to know what it means," Charlotte informed as Victoria agreed, returning to her work.
