Sam fears his father Lev Abramov's judgmental nature - especially since his father will NOT agree to Sam's choice to become an actor. It was his father's choice for Sam to go to law school and have a "respectable career", and Sam is torn between making his parents happy and making himself happy. His fear is that his parents are right after all, and that his dreams of becoming an actor are nothing more than a daydream, since it's not that likely he'll be famous and be able to support himself. There would be nothing more embarrassing than him going ahead with his dream to become an actor, only to become a pauper living off other's sympathy.
The top panel of the second page was a piece I did for Inktober.
This is the story of Sam "Ramey" Abramov, a law student torn between his parents' desire for him to become a lawyer and his own burgeoning love for the stage.
Born and raised in New York City, Sam comes of age in the 1920s, at a time when movies are just beginning to be made. Jovial, at times immature, and equipped with a great sense of humour, Sam sets out to take America by storm.
