Peonies: I picked peonies for this scene because my grandmother's house had them. They're the type of flowers that really leave an impression. First of all, the smell is really heavy--it's one of those you're probably going to notice when you walk by. Second, just look at them. They're pretty. Third, they're always full of ants. Apparently they like the nectar? As far as peonies go, Only Ants Live Here Now. I learned this because I shoved my face in a peony bush as a child because I liked the smell.
