Heart cleared his throat.
Hoping the man would say or do something more than just stand there not ten feet away from him and stare.
The man walked closer, his hands stuffed in his pockets. As he slowly advanced on Heart, he pulled a single hand out and started playing with his own fingertips slowly, his hand hanging down beside his leg.
His tan skin looked soft and un-scarred. His hands clean as if he had never gone through any of the hardships of the people around here. Almost as if he had never worked or lived a day in his life.
The only thing Heart could think was that this man was a prostitute. Otherwise, there was no other way he belonged in this area of Bangkok.
Heart stared at him, confused.
“It’s not safe this late at night in the alleys.” The man whispered into the vast lack of sound around them.
Heart gulped. The man’s voice reverberated through his body so hard Heart felt his head lulling into a hasty nod of agreement, despite being not entirely sure why he was agreeing. Not that the statement the man had said wasn’t true, because it was true. After all no place was truly one hundred percent safe. That wasn’t it, it was the fact that he couldn’t shake off this intense feeling like he needed to trust the stranger. That he needed to do what was right tonight. No matter what. Even if this guy seemed odd.
He looked Heart up and down, and then just like that the stern discerning face of stone was replaced with the most charming smile Heart had ever seen in his twenty-two years of life.
“We should go!” The man said enthusiastically and grabbed Heart’s arm with a force he didn’t think was possible for any person. As the man dragged him away, he thought he heard the sounds of fighting. He never had time to look back.
As the man dragged him at top speed down alley after alley. The bright lights of the city spun past him quickly, and he kept pulling on his arm, trying hard to get the man to stop. But somehow his iron death-like grip clung and pulled him without end. The cold air that was fine to stand in, bit through Heart’s sweater and he felt the cold slice through the material.
The more they ran, the more Heart’s stomach flipped from the drinks he had, and so he tried even harder to pull the opposite way the man was dragging him. The man turned around and scowled at Heart.
Heart froze. In that split second, he had the sudden fear that this man was pulling him to his death.
He had felt such a good aura about him before and then in a split second the world had blackened. The man glared and with barely any force at all threw Heart hard against the nearest wall.
“If you would just cooperate for half a second and let someone save you. That would be great thanks!” The man snapped.
Heart whimpered in agreement, but still flipped and twisted his arm trying to free it no longer certain that this man was entirely safe. He pulled his arm back and forth. But all he had to show for it was the red swelling on his skin.
“Stop it now!” He snarled. Heart gasped and moaned in pain as his ears rocked with a sense of shock from this resounding explosion inside them.
‘Why was this happening to him?’
The man hadn’t barked those words, but snapped them quickly and firmly. He hadn’t raised his voice or screamed loudly to get his attention, but it felt as if it had shot through his body like a gun going off.’
‘What was with tonight? Why was everything so weird? And who was this guy?’
Heart felt the panic settle in his throat and started taking large, shallow breaths of air. He felt suddenly paralyzed and pushed with all his might on the man, in an attempt to escape. When his world went sideways and he was flying forward into the strange man who had disconcertingly disheveled Heart’s whole night and now that Heart thought about it. Had most likely caused him to lose his job.
He smashed into the man, taking him down to the ground with him, seeing the ground coming. Heart pinched his eyes shut as if his life depended on it. He threw out his arms as best he could, but to his surprise, his body hit into the other man with enough force that their arms and legs entangled and his face smashed into something soft and wet. When he opened his eyes, he was staring into the dark silvery and blue eyes of the stranger and realized the wet soft thing had been the other man’s cheek. The shock had rendered him frozen to the spot that he had barely noticed, the soft red stuff falling from the sky, raining gently around the two of them. The man’s eyes went from startled to cloudy in less than a moment, and he shoved Heart off with the most chilling growl Heart had ever heard.
The sound traveled from the ground into his feet, through his body and chest and into his soul. Heart tried not to look like he was going to shit himself.
“Ah, Uhm... Sorry, I didn’t mean to... That, touch your...” Heart struggled to finish his sentence and instead just pointed at his lips, then the man’s then back at him before he bit down on both and shut up.
The man was physically shaking, his hands balled into fists, and his chest heaving angrily. Finally, the words he screamed at the top of his lungs shocked Heart in a way he had not expected.
“What the hell did you do to my balls!” He shouted.
Heart’s mouth gaped.
