During college, I applied to a program that guaranteed me two 6-month internships. I was extremely grateful for this considering I don’t believe in interviews. Nobody can judge someone's work ethic by being in a room with him for an hour. It is the same thing as meeting someone for the first time and saying I NOW KNOW YOUR WHOLE LIFE STORY AND I WILL NOW JUDGE YOUR WHOLE BEING. One day, I got a phone call from Human Resources from my first internship. She Said, “Hello! We ran a background check on you and we have a few questions!” I said, “Sure”. I have never been arrested for anything so I was curious about the next question.
“We would like to know if you have any credit cards?”
“Credit Cards? Nope. None.”
“You don’t have any credit at all?”
“Nope”
“WoW! We ran a background check we got nothing back. That is a red flag to us. We shouldn’t hire you.”
“I am sorry that’s shocking to you. However, this internship is guaranteed through this program.”
“Wait, Really?”
“Yes, Really.”
“Oh, ok then, Bye.”
“Click.”
Well. This is an interesting start to an internship.
