Standing at The Heaven’s steps, Lucifer stared at the stairs blankly. The steps rotated as he walked up their length. He steeled himself, he’d set all this up to protect his son after all. His eyes darted around, watching the shapeless wisps of the other heaven bound angels as they flit about the air.
Walking up the stairs into The Heaven he walked into the shining city. The city consisted of long circular buildings, each one lived in by a different young angel and their caretaker. The buildings were pure white and topped with golden scale like roofs. Each window was made of translucent diamonds and the streets were paved with gold. He pressed onward, unimpressed as a paperboy angel came zooming past him. “Extra! Extra! Read all about it!!” the boy shouted as he ran by the adult angel.
Picking up the paper dropped by the boy in the floppy brown hat he hissed under his breath as he read the headline. “Mikha’el hailed as the most obedient angel alive. God set to make the final model of mankind after seven long days and nights of molding beta tests.”
He threw the paper down and raced through the streets. He paid no mind to the weirded-out stares of the other angels that he darted past. The same as the others they were all dressed in grey-white robes, cropped blond hair the uniform style. They were shocked and surprised to see such long oddly colored hair from the first angel ever recorded to have stepped foot on Earth. Ignoring them all he dodged passing cars. These cars were golden pods that floated above the ground. He ran straight toward the palace. He knew his army would arrive soon.
It rose up above the spiraling floating city in a massive citadel. A vast structure that clung to the top of the sky like a creeping plant. He ran up the stairs, they moved to meet another set of stairs that rose up to the palace. He stood at the doorway, the guards opening the doors for him.
He stepped inside the palace, the marble floors reflecting his naked body. He was nude, only covered by his long powder blue hair. He walked past an orchestra that began to play in front of a collection of empty pews. He headed through the golden lit hallways as he heard the voice of God on the air. His fists clenched and he grit his fangs once the voice filled his mind with its condescending sweetness. “Welcome to my palace, Lucifer, welcome home. You are to be sentenced to death by execution. Your offspring when located will be banished to the newly created Hell.”
He glowered at the undulating mass of white flesh and mucus that sat on the throne. “Kill me all you like, but my child is innocent.” Lucifer spat this as he glared at the one he had once called father.
“Fair enough. Mikha’el!” the maggot in the shape of a female creature that called itself, ‘God’ called forth its greatest champion. Mikha’el appeared, blond hair to his shoulders, signifying this was his natural hair color and he’d reached his realization point many years earlier.
He walked over, drawing his sword to Lucifer’s neck. Betrayal and hurt echoed in Lucifer’s gaze as he looked at his twin, his wounded eyes healed now that he was in The Heaven. His arm was outstretched but the sword he attempted to manifest, was gone. He saw it in Mikha’el’s hand, Lucifer’s mind was racing, I never even realized he’d taken it, how fast is he?! The blond shook his head and roughly pushed Lucifer away. He then shoved the sword into the hands of a guard that stood by watching.
The powder blue haired closed his eyes and turned to run from the throne room, he could not risk saying what he wanted to say to his beloved. He could not risk Mik facing this same, cruel destiny.
He knew what his love had sacrificed to protect him, and it hurt. It hurt so badly he wanted to run over and hug his brother with all his might, and pull him down to make love right in front of God's frothing mandibles. But he dared not, all he could do, was run. So he ran, only to be stopped by the guards who were about to run him through with their blades.
He had used up so much power to give his army a chance with no break, he was too weak to fight. Lucifer frowned, but the blow never came, instead, the ground shook, a great axe flying through the air to bury itself into one guard’s skull. A scythe came down to crack open the second guard’s skull. He stared in disbelief as Sara and Suri smiled at him brightly.
Sarathiel spoke first, long silver hair down his shoulders, “We came early! You need to get to the palace, go!”
He smiled at them brightly and took off running. He darted through the streets, dodging arrows and the sword swings of Axia Knights. He noticed something, they were all females! He took a step back and looked around. Every single knight, though you could not see their bodies, each had crystalline, bug-like eyes. Only female angels possessed such eyes! It was then that he saw them, his angels, the fifty that followed him in the death camp. The fifty out of the hundred that were strong enough to carry the burden of being his army.
They were led by Paimon, dearest Paimon, Asta and Barachiel at his side; they sliced through angels to reach him.
“Hold!!” Paimon cried out, “Look! Look at them! These Knights! Most of them, almost all, are female angels!” Lucifer said this in a panic and everyone quickly rushed over to him.
Asta was the one who next found his voice, “It can’t be...God lied to us?!” He looked around, dark blue hair swaying as he did so, shock splashed across his face rather quickly.
Paimon walked over and nodded, “Yes. It appears we were just tools, a means to an end, we were never going to come back here as warriors of God.”
Lucifer’s eyes filled with tears, “God was only using us to further her gains. She never loved any of us, and you can bet she doesn’t love you all either!” He growled this at the female angels who stared at him silently.
An Aviela appeared from the throng of angel guards and knights, and she walked over to the rebellion. “Come now, God’s love is the most important thing in the world. The universe. If you do not believe in God’s love, you are nothing, without God’s grace, there can be no Light. Follow God’s laws if you wish to return to the sweet embrace of The Heaven, it’s not too late. Throw down your weapons and let God’s love wash over you. This silly little rebellion is doomed to fail, it doesn’t matter what you do.”
Samael appeared in a flurry of feathers beside her, “She’s right you know.” He walked over to Lucifer and grabbed him around the waist, pulling him against himself. “I have always loved you, and with God’s blessing and permission, I can use what power I gained in the Tower Of God to keep you trapped here forever, all mine.” He forced a bruising kiss on the first angelic being who sputtered in disgust and shoved him away angrily.
“No. She’s wrong, you are all wrong! If God loved us she wouldn’t be hurting us so much!” He held out his hand and Paimon tossed him the katana of the silent tengu. He swung it to strike at Samael who vanished and reappeared behind him, kicking him in the back. Lucifer hit the ground, his sword skidding across the cloud ground.
Samael was struck in the back of the head by a pair of sickles that dug into his neck. “Go Lucifer-ach! I’ll take him!” Came a shout as Salsa appeared with an excited howl.
It had been assumed Salsa died in the ocean, but he did not. He and Paimon had been planning a way to help Lucifer after he escaped the hand of death. “Lucifer!” Paimon hurried over and helped Lucifer up, pressing his sword into his hand. The leader thanked him silently and rushed through the brush.
“The rebellion has been planning in secret, we didn’t want the main camp to know, I was called down with the Spotted Shine team. I’m the only member of that team left alive and it was the very last one called to earth.” Paimon explained this as he helped Lucifer stand.
“Did you find the weapons in the cave systems?” Lucifer asked this quietly as he was helped into an old building he recognized as one of the nursery buildings. He leaned against a cell wall. “Tell me everything”
Paimon nodded “We found twelve weapons in the cave system. Twelve weapons that hold great power. There was a strange magic teleport system in the caves as well. We used it to hide our plans from the rest of the flock”
Outside the building, Sara and Bara had locked swords with two angel guards who ran over to attack. Lucifer smiled a bit, “These twelve weapons, what did you do with them? I saw Sara and Suri and Salsa had one each”
Paimon sat down and his Feathercom held up a holo screen. It was a black cat that spoke as it shifted to a black haired chibi cat boy dressed in silver armor. “The weapons were cleaned and given to Paimon, Sarathiel and Barachiel. They each have three weapons and Paimon has six, Sara gave Salsa one because he asked nicely after it was discovered he was not in fact dead” each weapon flashed across the screen, an axe, daggers, swords, a sickle and scythe, a war fan. “These weapons were sealed away by God after she wiped out the first Gods after it was determined they were too powerful to handle.”
“Thank you Kaika, that will be all” Paimon pet his Feathercom and it shifted back into bracelet form. He watched as Salsa walked over and looked Lucifer over.
“Sara and Salsa and Bara are holding off the guards for now, we need to make it to God’s inner chamber if you truly want to confront her” Asta said this as he pulled out a crudely drawn map of The Heaven. “Salsa drew this, also, how did you know about the Old Gods powers?”
“Let’s go” Lucifer didn’t answer as he stood up and dashed outside, cutting off the heads of the guard angels. Slowly the group cut down all in their way, rejoining the group of fifty rebels against heaven. “Fight until there is nothing left!” he shouted this at the crowd and the angels beat their swords against their shields and called out to him in reply.
“We die as free angels!”
The angels charged forward and he joined them, clashing swords with the Axia Knights and struggling to get toward the place God rested.
They were almost to the Grand Hall that led to the Inner Biomass Chamber. He snorted and sliced into a guard angel with The Silent Tengu's katana.
“Keep going!” Sarathiel lunged to push Lucifer forward as a Cherubim came barreling down the hall, all three heads screaming.Sara used the power of the Soaring Hawk to beat his wings so hard a gust of wind sliced through one of the Cherubims three grotesque heads.
Barachiel landed on it’s back and jumped up, slamming back with the power of the Roaring Bear, sending an earthquake causing a shockwave to blast a hole inside the long lizard-like body of the Cherubim.
Salsa swung his fists to punch through the second head with the power of the Raging Bull. Meanwhile, Paimon used the Dire Wolf’s power to rip into the final head with his fangs and the Great Axe.
As the great creature finally fell, Lucifer reached the door to the Inner Chamber. He started to open it Finally-!
His thoughts died in his mind as he looked down to see a glowing, flaming sword pierced through his chest. He looked behind himself, eyes locking with his silently crying brother. Forgive me, my beautiful hatchling, dearest, sweetest most beloved mine…my heart, my little one" Mikha’el leaned into his ear, whispering this. Lucifer stumbled forward, turning around he staggered over. His long-fingered hands reaching out to his former lover. “B-Beelzebub…is his....name..." he rasped this, falling to his knees, gazing at Mik with love, his vision blurring. Raggedly taking air into his lungs, he listened to the fighting as the others did battle with the Cherubim.
He could not see clearly anymore; with a grunt he fell to his hands and knees. He knew he was weak, years of abuse in the death camp of the garden of eden had left him emaciated and with barely even a flicker of his angelic power remaining. But still, he tried, had to try, the rebellion rising once more was evidence enough of his influence over the other angels. He looked up at Mikha’el, despair etched across his features. He reached out to him once more, as Uriel and Azriel came running over, swords flashing. Mikha’el pulled the sword out of Lucifer’s bleeding gut and cut both their heads off in a single, practiced motion. Lucifer fell face forward into the silver cloud mist.
He could hear his angels being slaughtered and it broke his heart. Sarathiel came rushing over, one of the mysterious weapons in his grip. It looked to be made of stardust, it was a sword, he fought Mikha’el right next to Lucifer’s bleeding form. Mikha’el avoided the strange weapon though it caught him in the chest. Bleeding, he stabbed Sarathiel in the gut, kicking him in the face and slicing through his abdomen with a hot sizzle.
Being in The Heaven only served to make Lucifer weaker, even though he had led the second rebellion up here. Led them to their doom, he saw Salsa fighting in the distance with the hulking three headed mass of yet another Cherubim. He watched Salsa fall, could hear Paimon and Bara fighting in the distance, could feel his very power drained away by the flaming blade that had been lodged in his gut. He struggled to stand up, staggering away.
He heard Mikha’el’s silent footfalls as he followed after him slowly. He coughed up blood, the pain shot into his veins like liquid fire. His vision grew ever hazier, it’s hard to see but that matters nothing at all, at least Beel is ok, he must be ok, and my angels, will be ok. Those who followed me here, I lament this situation, but this was the path they chose. I will not dishonor them by weeping where they died. He stumbled over to where he’d entered The Heaven. If he could just leap through the portal, he would be safe. He could hide out in the trees on earth near the main camp in the Eden. Gasping for breath, blood filling his lungs, his mouth, spilling from his eyes, he was almost there. He had just reached one of the portal’s guards.
Falling to his knees once more he stared at the guard who he saw was freaking out, touching his legs he tried to claw his way up. It was all for naught, pointless just like everything else. He cried out, unseeing as Mikha’el’s sword was plunged once again into his broken body. The sword came down and stabbed him straight through the spine, between his shoulder blades. This forced his wings to come out in slow motion.
