“Luke.”
I kept running in pitch darkness, trying to get away from him. But it didn’t matter how fast I ran, his sing song voice kept getting closer.
“Big brother! Why would you run away from me?” He mocked, I couldn’t turn back I had to stay away. “You’re already mine, run as much as you like you will never be free of me.”
My body was wet, the scent of decay burning my nose. I looked down at my hands and saw them covered in brilliant red blood. I tripped on my feet, falling face first into a pillow-like patch of ground. I stood up and came to the realization the whole area was littered with thousands of corpses. The one I had fell upon was a woman whom I recognized despite her corpse being disfigured. I fell on my knees to cradle her, memories flooded my mind while a searing pain took place in my chest. This was all my fault.
I screamed frightened, my breathing agitated as my hurting heart thrummed hard against my chest. I wanted to get out but I knew it’d be impossible.
“Luke… see what you did? Only I can give you that peace you want so badly.”
“No! Stay away from her! Stay away from me!”
“Shhh, it’s okay.” he came closer to me and patted my head with outmost care.
I stared into his red eyes, a piece of me getting forced back into place. I let go of the woman’s corpse and hugged the man as he crouched in front of me.
“You want this to go away right? All you have to do is…”
“let me in.”

I opened my eyes and found Baal attaching his bag to the horse. The sun had already risen and, apparently, my new companion had been up long enough to gather a small bag of apples. He noticed I woke up and looked at me with a merry grin plastered on his face. Judging by his reaction, my nightmare hadn’t made me scream in my sleep and that was good.
“Good morning handsome, I went to gather some fruit for the way. I do have to eat… If you’d like a few, I put some inside my bag and this other small one tied to it.” He patted his things and adjusted his arrows over his shoulders as well as his bow. “You need more time or shall we go?”
“You’re in a hurry, afraid the knights will catch up with us?”
“Nah, just dying to see the capital and get me a sword… and some rum too.”
“No warmer clothes, Mr. Exhibitionist?”
“That too, we going?” He got on the horse and grabbed the reigns showing off his bright smile from the top.
“Let’s go.” I replied and got on the horse with him.
