It started when Cordelier's phone rang and her dad spoke in disapprovement "Why is your phone on? We have guests honey." Before she could answer the maid from earlier came in her face wiped out of all color and introduced us to a set of one couple who from the looks of it was either a family friend with striking familiar dark looks to the family or distant relative to the Beauforts.
After some introductions and small talk as we went through dinner it became established that the guy was actually married to the girl he came with and he apparently was some sort of young protégé' to Conrad senior.
His name was Tipp, Tipp Vanderbilt and with the way dad was also interested in him I figured why that name was familiar. His dad was also a politician, whose wondering eye had been subject to all the tabloids. Tipp was also kind of like his old man, from the way he kept eye flirting with Cordelier when his wife was right there when he thought everyone was distracted. His wife saw too and I assumed she would endure through dinner lke most politicians' wives' digging in rather too harshly into her food but to my surprise she snapped "have you two no shame, or any decency?" she threw her spoon down "How could you sit there flirting right in my face?"
"Babe." Tipp spoke to his wife lowering his hand that was brushing Cordelier's stray hair.
"No don't babe me. And a married man Cody? Have you no sense of self pride? He'll never leave me you know. I'm his wife." She threw her cutlery down and finished "His pregnant wife. No man will leave his wife for a whore."
Her mother looked to my parents apologetically then she fixed her gaze on Tess and me. I felt weak and embarrassed for her daughter Genevieve has this strong gorgeous gaze that radiates power and intimidation. Suddenly she reached for the bottle of Veuve Clicqoute "We have guests, we'll finish this later."
Tipp's wife became enraged and pressed "oh like they didn't see...or wait are you condoning your daughter's immorality? you do realize that she'll be a punchline right? and you Tipp will become a political joke! Tell him Mr Luthor."
Tipp cut in rubbing his eyes "I'm so sorry for all this. Listen Marla relax." And Marla all but relaxed she continued bashing Cody and the whole family even her husband too until Cordelier yelled "I'm a lesbian you stupid bitch!"
Her dad through gritted teeth said "stop that now!!" she threw him an icy look and her mother pleaded again "Cordelier be appropriate, we have guests over."
"Guests that share your views or are you too embarrassed you have gay children so you'd rather they think I'm a whore?" she sipped the last from her flute. And with that she left with a slight curt strutting out of the room her gold dress clinging onto her body and moving along with her hips as the train of her dress followed sweeping the floor dramatically. And her brother Conrad followed behind his sister despite his dad's command to stay sit.
Mr. and Mrs. Beaufort apologized for their daughter's misconduct, Tipp's wife started apologizing and pressing why none of them had told her the truth apparently she had been suspecting an affair between the two a long time now and every time she'd only get shut down with 'stop stressing, it's nothing'
By the time dessert arrived everyone was full and just ready to go.
