I woke up in the infirmary. My vision still slightly blurry as I slowly sat up. I heard a voice beside me.
“You’re finally awake. I was worried I’d be sitting here all night.” I looked to the speaker and realized it was Silvian who was sitting beside the bed.
“How long was I out for?” I asked groggily.
“About 45 minutes,” Silvian said dryly. He shoved a bowl of soup at me. “The feast is pretty much over already and the head nurse madame Miura said she didn’t think it was a good idea for you to go back there so I brought you something to eat.”
I looked to the soup now and frowned. “All that food and you got me soup! You couldn’t have gotten me like...a cake or something?”
“You fainted so I didn’t know if you’d even have an appetite.”
“I’m a growing 18 year old boy! Of course I have an appetite,” I said with a huff.
Silvian smirked. “Well I wouldn’t have guessed since you’re up to my shoulder and look like you’d only weigh 100 pounds soaking wet.”
I rolled my eyes. “Well fuck you too assface.”
Silvian laughed coldly. “Again! I’m so glad our friendship is so strong that we can joke insult each other.”
“I wasn’t…” I sighed heavily. It was no use. “Just...you’ve only known me for one day so please cool it with all this friendship stuff buddy.” I adjusted my glasses, I really didn’t want to say anything nice to him but I wasn’t that much of an asshole. I sighed heavily. “Thank you for bringing me the soup. It was a nice sentiment.” Even if he was definitely only befriending me to forward his own evil agenda.
“What exactly happened to make you faint?” Silvian asked now. “Are you sick?”
I shook my head. “Err...no. I just didn’t expect him to be so attractive. I couldn’t handle it.”
Silvian’s eyes narrowed. “Who?”
“Owen Thorn!”
Silvian sat in a stunned silence for a beat before he finally managed to say, “you fainted...because you thought Owen Thorn was hot?”
“Well it sounds stupid when you word it like that.”
“It would sound stupid no matter how you worded it! Oh my God I can't believe I brought you soup and sat here until you woke up when you fainted literally only because you though Owen Thorn was hot! You really are a bloody lunatic.” Silvian crossed his arms, a slight sneer coming over his features now. “And honestly, Owen Thorn of all people? God, didn’t you see how he has to always make everything all about him? He could have just walked in like a normal person but NO he rides in on a fucking serpent! And what was with walking across the table? Even you can’t deny that he only did it to be dramatic. We eat on that fucking table! The bloody self centered son of a-”
“Well, well well, he’s awake,” a soft second voice suddenly said, cutting off Silvian’s rant. Standing there was madame Miura, the head nurse of the infirmary. “It’s unusual a student gets sent here on their first day,” she said. She smiled sweetly, her voice airy and soft.
“I’ll try not to make a habit of it,” I said with a grin.
I moved to climb out of bed but madame Miura held out a hand to stop me.
“You should stay in bed,” she said. “We don’t know what caused you to faint so suddenly-”
“It was a hot guy,” Silvian stated bluntly.
My face immediately turned red.
A puzzled look came over Miura’s features. “What do you mean?”
“I-I think what Silvian is trying to say-” my stammered defence was quickly cut off by Silvian.
“What I mean is that Chester literally just looked at a hot guy and then got so thirsty he fainted.”
Miura chuckled under her breath. “I see. Well, if it makes you feel any better young Chester, you’re not the first for this to happen to.”
“What? Really?” I asked, legitimately surprised.
Miura nodded. “I’ve worked here a long time. I believe the last case I got like this was ironically the cause of a young headmaster Banecliff. He was quite the looker when he was young and attended school here.” She smiled giving a little wink. “Still is.”
Silvian shot up out of his seat. “Alright, well now that that’s sorted out I think it’s time me and Chester took our leave. Come on Ches.”
“Please don’t call me Ches,” I muttered.
Miura laughed as he dragged me towards the door. “Goodbye boys! And Chester, please don’t make a habit of fainting at every cute boy you see.”
My cheeks burned. “I promise miss.”
