The two left their seats and exited out of the classroom. They were headed to the roof of the school. Paradise told her the best way to open the door to Marriel was at a high place. She had always opened it in the back of her apartment complex where that strange man slept on the rotting mattress stuck between two trash cans. That strange man was her father…. Or something like it. He was older than what his looks led him to be with dirty red hair and grey eyes.
Whenever she’d open the door to Marriel, he’d ask where she was going but of course, she never replied to him. When that happened, he would smile this dirt covered grin and say, “Come back soon.”
Or if the door wouldn’t open for her, he’d say, “Try again sweetheart. This time, with your core.”
She didn’t know if he was one of the humans who had crossed the line between Marriel and the human world or was someone who could see what was happening. The man in white had told her of people born with the Eternity Eyes who are able to see magic and to avoid these kinds for they hold trouble for a Re:Birth.
