The moon started to slowly disappear, but no sun would come in exchange. Only the ominous dark and mist full of ill intent. Pain still stared at the light of the moon when a figure stepped out of the house. It was the young man, who had seemed to be fast asleep only a little earlier.
“Do you enjoy the light?” Health asked as he stared at Pain, who did not seem to notice him or to care.
“Enjoy… I guess I do not enjoy anything, such is my punishment.” Pain answered without turning to him. Health stared at the moon that was slowly fading.
“Then why do you stare at it.”
“Because… there is not much else to stare at.”
“But…”
Pain suddenly stood up. He looked down at the young man with the black wings and stared at him hard.
“But?” He said harshly. “But what?”
He leaned forward and stared down in the young man's eyes.
“You want to talk?” He asked in a low but threatening voice. “Then let’s talk about those wings.”
Health stepped back, he looked annoyed.
“Fine, whatever, we won’t talk.” He turned around, back into the house. Pain looked back at the moon that was now almost gone. The dark surrounding him as a soft cloak. Almost comforting. Pain walked into the house to discover everyone awake.
“I guess since we are all up now, we should go to the ‘Great Lift’.”
The others nodded or let out a simple agreeing word. And so they grabbed their small packs and left. Pain locked the door, although it seemed useless, Health later noticed it was a protective seal. Pain looked at the shabby hut.
“There isn’t much in there, but it is still our home.” He mumbled to Scare. She nodded and glanced one last time to their home before they were off.
It took a few hours before they reached the ‘Great Lift’. Although time went by differently here. Shots of light that went up in a circular formation. Indicated the place of the ‘Great Lift’ or as it is officially called, The Lift of the Descend.
“I have always wondered if they intended the irony in its official name.” Scare exclaimed. The guard on duty stared at her, questioning. She stared back at him blankly.
“What…?”
The guard flinched and shook his head.
“No… nothing.” He stuttered. Scare clicked her tongue, shook her head and passed the angel guard.
“Where is your companion?” Pain asked the startled guard, who started sweating the moment the large man stood in front of him. The guard looked up at Pain and tried to stutter something as he pointed to a figure a bit farther away. Pain said nothing and stepped towards the figure. Health walked towards the angel guard and patted him on the shoulder.
“Good job....” He said, but the sarcasm was clear. Hope shyly smiled at the guard as she followed Health. Pain stood in front of a figure sitting on the floor. The figure did not move. Pain kicked.
“Oi!” A female voice rose from the figure. She looked up annoyed. Though the moment she saw Pain her face lit up.
“You!” She cried. “What are YOU doing HERE?”
Pain grinned.
“You haven’t heard?” He started. “I’m gonna go down.”
She stared at him then smirked.
“I might have heard something about that, although I never pay attention to any orders given.” She exclaimed while getting up. She was tall. Almost as tall as Pain. Slender, very feminine, features, like an hourglass. Lips painted red, eyes heavy with makeup. Her hair a solid black tied in a long ponytail. She observed Pain and her face frowned.
“You’re going… like that?” She said pointing at his clothes. Pain was wearing the same as the day before. Health didn’t even think he might have other options. His black, cotton sleeveless vest had a hood. He wore his long vest open, revealing his heavily muscled chest and stomach. His pants were baggy and wide on the top but tucked in his high leather boots.
“What...why not?” He asked annoyed. The woman laughed a rather attractive laugh.
“Sure, dear, whatever you want.” She looked at Scare and sighed. “The both of you do not change, do you?”
Scare frowned at her.
“Whatever, Cry, I do not care…”
Cry looked at her.
“You say that, but you do not look bad at all you know, rather fashionable, in my opinion.”
Scare looked at her suspiciously. She did not believe a word this woman said. This Vixen. She tugged at her cropped leather jacket and looked away. She would not let this woman get her flustered. Scare had indeed tried to dress a bit more… appealing. She has been working on a sex appeal, she does not have in attitude. This woman, Cry, is one of the women with the biggest sex appeal, Scare knows personally. Of course, she is not as high class as the real deals, but damn, Scare felt inferior just standing in front of her.
“But I can not believe that you get to go on this mission also… Scare.” Cry exclaimed sighing. “I get why they sent Pain, but you… you are just a little devil…”
Pain stepped in between the two women as he could tell Scare was about to explode.
“Me and Scare are a great team, that’s why. I do not team up well with others. Also, she is my sister, so I will not leave her here…they know this full well”
Cry stood back and observed Pain.
“I see, so they knew that you would not go if she wouldn’t.” She nodded. “I see… you two really do not change… as inseparable as ever.”
A sudden flash interrupted the conversation, if one would call it that. Hope shrieked. Two looming figures stood in front of the gate to the ‘Great Lift’.
An Archangel and an Archdemon known as Michael and Mammon. The group grew silent, the angels fell to their knees. The others stayed as they were. Michael sniggered.
“Seems that lot knows not how to show respect to a greater being, Mammon.” He smirked. Mammon looked at him.
“Or some of us are not stuck up and delirious about themselves.” He answered. A common type of bickering between angels and demons. However, even though such a simple reply was to be expected, Michael did not take it well. He glared at Mammon, who had stepped towards the group in front of them.
“Good to see you all gathered here, I do not like to wait or to waste any time, so let’s get started.” Mammon started and he came closer to the group. Just when he wanted to continue his eyes fell on Health. He observed him and grinned slyly.
“Oh… I have heard of you before… now I finally get to see it with my own eyes… black angel wings… interesting.” He said while walking towards Health. He grabbed at the feathers, Health tried to evade his grasp, but he was too fast and tore out three feathers. Health shrieked and jumped back. Against Pain, who caught him from falling. Mammon looked at his newly gained treasure.
“Amazing, I will treasure these.”
“Mammon! What do you think you're doing! Leave him alone!” Michael yelled. Pain pushed Health up and let him go. He looked irritated, but health could not tell whether he was irritated by himself or by Mammon’s actions.
“You hate wasting time, so stop wasting ours.” Pain sighed eventually letting his irritation fade from his face. Mammon grinned.
“You were always protective over your companions, but you are right indeed, let’s start.”
