As soon as the door closed behind them, the sounds of a busy bar regained its spirit and the four were left alone. For a few tense minutes, they only stared at each other. Then the large man impatiently whipped his tail and sighed a deep sigh.
“Let’s start with introducing.” He said with an irritation he did not even try to hide. He looked at the cloaked figures. “Actually, let’s start with you taking off those cloaks, shall we?”
The two visitors stayed silent for a while. Then the taller figure started to untie their cloak. A bright light emerged from under the hood as a vibrant and clear halo unveiled itself. Short, neatly cut, hazelnut brown hair, brightened on the top by the radiant light that shines above their head. As the hood of their cloak was taken off, the figure became a clear image of a young man. He looked up and stared at his hosts with piercing, dark green eyes, that flickered in the light above him. The smaller figure moved their hands towards their own hood. Trembling, small and thin hands grabbed the sides and slowly pushed it back. Again the room was filled with a bright light, as they revealed another, yet much smaller, halo of their own. Long, thick, blonde curls jumped out of the hood and fell on the figure's shoulders. The small, hands grabbed the thick hair and pulled it out of their cloak. A young girl looked up with large, soul-piercing eyes. The two hosts blinked against the bright light. They were not used to it, as they live in darkness. They allowed their eyes to get used to the light before taking in their visitors. The young girl, with her eyes as glossy as marble, stared at them. Her eyes a strange bright blue. As if she had been looking into the light of the sun for years and gotten blind. Long lashes decorated her wide eyes. A freckled, but fair skin cloaked behind her blonde curls. Small plump lips, clenched tight and trembling.
She is scared.
She untied her cloak and pulled it off her shoulders. Small white-feathered wings that were neatly folded behind her back, showed themselves. They were rather short and pointy. She was dressed rather simply in a knee-long, sleeveless white dress, with a flower pattern on the skirt, a silver-buckled belt around her waist and light brown leather, wide ankle boots. She held her cloak in her arms as she shuffled nervously. Now it was the young man's turn to pull off his cloak, but he seemed hesitant. In fact, he looked like he much rather did not take off his cloak any further than he already had.
Already, he is hiding something already.
“Everything you hide from us now will be revealed, if not today, tomorrow or thereafter. We will be spending a long time together, unfortunately.” The man with the horns commented while looking at the cloaked young man. The young man looked from him to the floor and sighed. He then pulled off his cloak and revealed his own wings. A deafening silence took the room. The young man looked up, trying to look confident, instead, he looked, ashamed. The horned man stepped forward and inspected the young man.
“This… I have never seen before… I did hear of it… never thought it to be true.”
He looked at the young man's wings. They were larger than the girls. Majestic even. The only thing was. They were black. Black feathers… like a crows. They shined an oily green in the bright light of the young man's nimbus.
“That’s enough staring.” the young man uttered. “Let’s start the introduction properly now.”
The horned man stepped back again en nodded. He looked towards the horned woman. She sighed and folded her arms. She looked arrogant this woman.
“Fine… I am ‘Scare’ and I am a devil, as you can see.” She said. Her voice was unexpectedly very feminine. It suited her face very well, but not her threatening attitude. She looked at the young girl. The girl in her turn looked at her and flinched. She quickly looked at the floor and clenched her cloak, which she was still holding in her hands.
“I am ‘Hope’ and I am an apprentice.” She stuttered in a soft, rather high pitched voice. Scare scoffed and looked at the horned man.
“I am known as ‘Pain’ and I am a demon.” He muttered, staring at the young man. The young man took his turn, still holding his chin up, looking confident, but ending up looking more arrogant than Scare.
“I am known as ‘Health’...” He grew silent, then continued. “And I am an Angel.”
Pain shrugged and scoffed.
“Are you really…?” Pain muttered at the young man. Health’s eyes shot fire.
“I am.”
Pain shrugged again.
“Sure.”
