They both get their weapons and set off, on the way there Lucia looks over her shoulder, constantly feeling like she is being watched. Shaking this thought, they continue walking.

Watching the two of them a hooded figure makes a call “Castor, you’ll never guess who showed up again.”

Castor replies “I don’t have time for games Rodrigo, tell me who it is or I will skin you alive for wasting my time.”

Rodrigo replies “Reina de la Sangre, The Blood Queen.”

Upon hearing this Castor replies “Now that is a surprise, watch her and when you get chance, bring her to me, she’s got a lot of explaining to do, tell me she still have her tattoo?”

Rodrigo says in response “Nah can’t see with the getup she’s wearing.”

Castor replies sounding a bit disappointed “Well that’s a shame. Let me know when you got her.”

Rodrigo just grunts a response and cuts the call, he continues watching them as they enter the station and thinks to himself “Why is she going into the local cop shop? If they ID her even after all this time she’ll most likely end up in the slammer”

As they walk into the station Lucia looks uncomfortable and Evelyn asks her “You ok?”

Lucia replies “I’m ok, just cannot shake the feeling that we are being watched but don’t worry about it, I’ll be ok.”

Evelyn nods and they carry on

They hand in their weapons at the check-in desk and walk through to Captain McInnes office.

Walking in he greets them both “Officer Shade, good to see you again, the rest of the team is the rec room, you know the way? Sorry I can’t go there, I’m in the middle of logistics paper work, we recently took a big haul of Rune Dust off the streets.”

Evelyn asks “Rune Dust?”

Donovan replies “Latest designer drug, hits like a truck, metabolizes very slow, the high lasts up to 5 days, extremely painful withdrawal and when injected into new breakers pushes their abilities beyond their control creating a massive aether dead zone.”

Lucia says “Sounds like something the Skulls would peddle.”

Donovan looks at her quizzically and asks “Familiar with them?”

Lucia replies “I grew up in the south side of Fort Vanguard, yeah familiar.”

Donovan doesn’t push the issue and says “Well thanks for stopping in Evelyn, listen if that merc gig doesn’t work out, you know you can come back right?”

Evelyn replies “You know force restrictions on having breakers and aethers in the ranks.”

Donovan replies “Sadly, Listen take care of yourself, while we may have broken the majority of the gangs backs the Crimson Skulls are still power players so be careful.”

Evelyn says “Thanks for the warning.”

They go to the rec room and meet her old team, after a few minutes of chatting with them they leave, having collected their weapons they leave the station.

They walk home in silence, Lucia getting the feeling again that they are being watched, she picks up the pace.

Walking into the house Gunner is sitting and talking to Malcolm and Angel.

Evelyn says “We’re home.”

Gunner getting up and giving Lucia a hug seeing she is looking a bit distracted and asks “Anything wrong?”

Lucia replies “Just some bad memories, nothing serious”

Gunner then says “Are you sure? You seem pretty shook up.”

Lucia replies insisting “I promise nothing is wrong, just the last couple of weeks have been tiring.”

As she finishes speaking Malcolm says “I hope you are hungry.”

They all sit down for dinner and talk the rest of the night.

After clearing the table and doing the dishes Angel and Evelyn retire to their room.

As Evelyn prepares to get into bed Angel turns off the light, grabs her from behind in loving embrace, turns her around and kisses her with a long and sensual kiss, opening her eyes all Evelyn can see in the darkness are Angels glowing ice blue eyes, after stopping Evelyn says “I love you”

Angel replies “I love you too, you really think this will work?”

Evelyn then whispers in her ear “We have all of eternity to try.”

Evelyn falls asleep in Angels embrace.

She dreams of her mother, baking with her, sneaking out with her first crush and stealing a kiss, graduation from police academy and acceptance into SWAT.

Waking up from a noise outside she takes a look and sees Lucia pacing outside, pulling the covers over Angel, she gets dressed in a jacket and jeans, she takes her daggers and goes outside. As she walks out the door Lucia turns around with a aetherised fireball in her hands, Evelyn holding up her hands saying “Whoa, easy there, seriously now, you’ve been acting weird ever since we went to the station, would you mind levelling with me?”

Calming down Lucia dissipates the fireball, sits down and starts talking “You know about my past right? That I am a former ganger from here, a whole other lifetime ago.”

Evelyn says “I know that, but something spooked you and this is the first time I saw you like this.”
