I found in my sketchbook the old designs of Sally and Cutter (Formerly Scylla and Charybdis, a lot of wip concepts of DO was named after greek/roman concepts)
this is like the 2-3rd design till I settled with this one for a while...
Sally used to be a 4ft tall 13-year-old brat who thought she could get away with everything... especially since she had a magical tail that could impose bad luck (there was no limitation to how much of a catastrophe she could cause with that power), but it drained from Cutter
Cutter's concept is practically the same in terms of power, a shapeshifter that drew power when Sally willed it... but cutter was less "a̷̱̙̦̻͙̤̒̌͛͑́w̷̡͇͙͛̀͆̀̕ā̷̱͇̲͖͋̂̌̇̚k̵̲̙̫͇̫͎̒̔́̿̌͌͑̓̄͝e̶̛̺̘͇̍̾̉̑̈̕͘ͅ" than his current counterpart... also more orderly and responsible
the chain used to be the thing that binned the two, but it became an astral cord cuz it was easier to draw on gimp...
the concept between the two was interesting... they used to be just corner of the homework sketches I did for fun, sometimes roleplayed with (had some minor backstory about being freaks who lived in the fringes of society)
when I started to plan a full-fledged story of them, I couldn't think of a central theme to write about... prejudice wasn't enough, like... why is Cutter a big ass monster? why is the two in prejudice? did they do something wrong?
this ranged from Sally and Cutter being a shady illegal exorcist duo who banished demons when official LEGAL government pricings were too high for some people (the cheap option)
to a child who's lived life with just misfortune cuz of her misfortune curse ability (unlucky ones... you see where I'm going with this?)
after trying to find a place for these two to fit... I came to the conclusion... "what if that's their story? they're trying to find out what the heck they are? what is their purpose? a self discovery kind a story"
