tbh i have sleep paralysis on a pretty regular basis and it's as scary as heck, a lot of times i experience it during really inconvenient moments, like when i have to go to the bathroom or if i'm in an uncomfortable sleeping position where my breathing is restricted. when this happens i'm completely awake but my body isn't and i try to use tricks to help shock myself awake such as biting my tongue, but in recent years i either can't snap out of it after biting my tongue or i can't even open my mouth to bite my tongue at all but eventually i get so scared that i wake up on my own...! (it's because of sleep paralysis that my first attempt at lucid dreaming ended in failure; i was aware that i was dreaming and was about to do a reality check but tried to move my irl body instead of my dreamworld body and i scared myself awake). i guess the only alternative is sleepwalking which is probably worse haha
